“Where the distance between heaven and earth collapses”.
This location has a very special meaning to us. Located north of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, it is a view of the San Juan Mountains. We first came across this location while on a family vacation in July 2014, when we were plotting our route to hike Pagosa Peak. On that trip in 2014, we returned to this spot on our last evening, and I was able to get several of my favorite Colorado images I had ever shot. It was also when I realized I wanted to make nature and landscape photography a part of my life.
We returned to Pagosa Springs in 2020 on another family vacation, and once again on our last evening there, we returned to this location to photograph the sunset. It was magical that evening, once again.
It wasn’t until we returned home to Kansas that I realized we were there at the exact same time and date, July, 18 2020, six years later.
