The incomparable views at Molas Lake, near Silverton, Colorado are on display with this image taken at sunrise in the summer of 2023. We camped in the campground surrounding the lake, and were up before dawn all three days we were there shooting this same angle. This is our favorite image taken as the sun had just risen over the mountains to the east and started to warm the pine trees on the opposite shore. The lake was like glass with the only ripples coming from some hungry trout breaking the surface.

I loved how this image translated to Black and White. This image was taken as a 30 second exposure while the storm was rolling our way. The drama of the clouds and the effects of the water using the long exposure made for a very dramatic scene.

This beautiful meadow is located in Rocky Mountain National Park on the East Inlet Trail. The trailhead is just east of Grand Lake, Colorado.

Chris and I were up well before dawn to hike to this location and be set up to capture this shot as the sun rose behind the mountains. Shot in September 2022.

This image was captured in 2019 along the famed Kebler Pass that is west of Crested Butte, Colorado.

Chris named it “Aspen Elegance”. I wanted to name it “The Birds” because the trademark Aspen knots, that usually look like eyes, look like birds in flight on this image. Chris usually wins.

Third time was the charm. Chris and i discovered this little barn on our many trips between Lawrence, Kansas and our home in Spring Hill. It was such a cool barn and the little stand of trees added nice balance to the scene. Although it was a bit of a drive, we shot this scene three times before we shot this image. After a heavy snowfall we captured this sunset image. The subtle and beautiful colors we captured were perfect for this shot.

This mountain in Southwest Colorado has special meaning to Chris, who worked at a ranch that was in the shadows of Bristol Head when she was younger. Her family also made numerous trips to this area for their family vacations.

A beautiful sunset photograph of Uncompahgre Peak was captured at Windy Point along the famed Slumgullion Pass near Lake City, Colorado. We staked out our shot and waited for this perfect sunset.

One of the most popular images in our collection. This photo was taken along Kebler Pass west of Crested Butte, Colorado, which is one of the most beautiful and largest aspen groves in Colorado. We loved the broken afternoon light on the trunks and the backdrop of peak colors in the background.

One of our most popular images. I love the boulders that line the shores of Twin Lakes, Colorado, which is north of Buena Vista. I wanted to get a long exposure to make the waters smooth, and the clouds a bit dreamy. But those clouds were from a storm coming our way very quickly. I managed to get a couple of exposures off, and back to our car right before the storm cut loose.

Whoever comes up with the names of butterflies should be arrested. For several years, we have been calling this a Monarch Butterfly. After a keen eye (my sister-in-law) saw this photo, she thought it may actually be a Painted Lady. So we hit up Google and discovered it is actually a Variegated Fritillary. Just flows off the tongue huh? Never the less it’s a beauty. Chris and I decided to just name it The Meadow Butterfly. Take that!

This perfect Dandelion was shot on a family hike near Big Sky, Montana. The size of mountain dandylions are amazing. This one was perfect, and we shot it during a light mist that added some small moisture drops to the dandelion.

On our hike to the top of Pagosa Peak near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, we came across these beautiful Columbine flowers. Once again I love to shoot with a shallow depth of field for these types of images. I had the opportunity to get a very low angle of the flowers with the forest back lit in the background. The flowers were in perfect shape. Classic Colorado mountain wildflowers

We captured this image while on a family hike near Big Sky, Montana.  I find this the best time to shoot wildflowers. We came upon this beautiful patch of wildflowers after a light rain. I love the opportunity to focus on a single flower with the other flowers soft but framing the scene.

This location has a very special meaning to us. Located north of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, it is a view of the San Juan Mountains. We first came across this location while on a family vacation in July 2014, while we were plotting our route to hike Pagosa Peak. On that trip in 2014, we returned to this spot on our last evening, and I was able to get several of my favorite Colorado images I had ever shot. It was also when I realized I wanted to make nature and landscape photography a part of my life.

This Bovine bad boy was shot at sunrise while we were scouting shots for a TV commercial in Great Bend, Kansas.  The sky was so perfect hat to get a silhouette.  This image has been a favorite at the art fairs with cattle lovers.
