Third time was the charm. Chris and i discovered this little barn on our many trips between Lawrence, Kansas and our home in Spring Hill. It was such a cool barn and the little stand of trees added nice balance to the scene. Although it was a bit of a drive, we shot this scene three times before we shot this image. The first shoot was in a heavy fog. But we did not like the look of the pasture. The second shoot was during a light snowfall. It was pretty cool, but it wasn’t enough. The final shot was after a heavier snow and a day of clearing. We drove to the location and just hoped that the sunset would be there for us. The snow was so heavy and thick I could not get to the exact angle I had been shooting before. So I adjusted my composition and started shooting. Since the shot now faced northwest, the colors from the incredible sunset that were out of frame, and more to the south were insane. But the subtle and beautiful colors we captured were perfect for this shot. You can feel the intense colors reflecting in the face of the barn.
