This was our first day of photography while on our Grand Lake, Granby Colorado adventure in the fall of 2022. This is Monarch Lake on a very stormy morning. It was just a couple of hardy hikers, a few fly fishermen and us silly photographers braving the conditions that chilly morning. More than once we had to pull back under a canopy of pines to escape the rains that came and went just as fast you could set the tripod.

This is a long exposure to give the clouds some extra drama and to also make the lake look very smooth. Amazingly the lone Goose on the little rock “bump” didn’t move at all during this 30 second exposure.
